Lancashire’s biggest music festival, Beat-Herder, has been cancelled for the second year in a row.
The festival, due to take place from the 15th – 18th July 2021 in Clitheroe, has been postponed until the 14th – 17th July 2022, upsetting both organisers and festival-goers.
In a statement issued this morning, organisers said: “It is with great sadness and a heavy heart we have to once again postpone the Beat-Herder festival.”
The event has been postponed due to financial difficulties and a lack of insurance available for independent festivals during COVID-19.
The organisers added: “Unfortunately, within the festival world COVID-19 specific cancellation insurance does not exist.
“We have been holding out for government intervention, hoping that they would be willing to stand behind their roadmap and back COVID-19 cancellation insurance policies. Sadly, this has not happened in time for BH 2021.”
This decision has been made so that festival-goers can be refunded for their tickets but, the option to roll tickets over into 2022 has also been made available.
Despite tickets selling out in less than 24 hours after their release, the 12,000 festival goers that are usually attracted will have to wait another year for the festival to take place.
DJ, Dub Pistols said: “I know how much of a tough decision this has been for you all, there isn’t a more committed team than Beat-Herder, Stay strong and come back stronger next year. One Love”
AmandaAries1977 added: “Aw jeez, I’ve got a Covid nurse already packed with her light sticks. Breaking this to her is going to be tricky. But should the fates agree we’ll see you next year with 2 years of pent up raving, ready to PARTY!! Totally worth waiting for”
Beat-Herder now joins a growing list of cancelled festivals like Boomtown and Glastonbury however, others like Reading, Leeds, Parklife and Creamfields are still pushing ahead with high hopes.
